I haven't been up to Mount Shasta area since I was a kid. Any good riding around there, good motels and place to eat that you would recommend. I'd be coming from Groveland, Ca. I probably wouldn't want to do Highway 5 all the way there. Might go to Lake Tahoe first then head towards Shasta on Highway 89, crossover somewhere to view Mt. Shasta. Still planning, thanks.
Shasta is tweaker central , leave nothing unlocked or in sight for any length of time.
Next thing is when you planning this ? over 5000 foot there's still serious snow a lot of off the main path secondaries are still closed. I was considering a ride up to Mt Lassen in few weeks till I checked the roads. Tahoe still has big snow banks and 30's in temps right now, buddy was up there last weekend.

I just read 89 through Lassen National Park is still closed, 40 foot snow drifts in some areas. So I’d have to go around that. I wanted to leave on May 13th. I can get to Tahoe on 88 or 50. Tahoe was in the upper 50’s today, upper 30’s at night. I don’t plan on riding at night. It was damn near that cold on our trip to Monterey a couple days ago. I was wearing heated liner and gloves under my leathers in the morning. Of course I’d bring all my gear again. I’ll keep checking the weather forecast.
