FWIW: Another vote for the HD gear, and boot covers.
I've been packing rain gear since the early 70's and the current HD product is the best I've found.
Here's another tip...I still have the factory original grips on my 1985 FXR. In a good steady rain, they feel more "slippery when wet" than I'm comfortable with. To keep a better grip, I tossed a set of cheap rubber dishwashing gloves in the bag that carries the rest of my rain gear. Works out better than bare-handing it, and they're large enough to put a thin set of glove liners under for cooler-wet riding.

HD rain gear and HD waterproof gloves. Boot covers are the more expensive ones offered by J&P Cycle, stay away from the thin nylon boot covers.I have never had a pair of "waterproof" boots last all day riding in the rain, always give up somewhere around lunch time then the rest of your day sucks. Boot covers keep my feet 100% dry and warm. Cold and wet is a shitty way to spend the day, you can ride thru just about anything if you stay warm. Do not cheap out on gear. We saw at least a half dozen riders coming back from Laconia on Sunday with no rain gear, pouring rain. bad way to end your week.

After throwing money away on inexpensive rain suits that leaked I finally bit the bullet and bought a Harley Hi-viz suit. I could've saved myself a lot of money by just buying the HD suit in the first place. It only takes one ride in a thunderstorm with a leaky rain suit to realize cheaping out is a bad idea. One thing I really love about my Harley suit is the zippers on the pant legs go all the way up to my hips so it's really easy to put them on without having to take off my boots. I also have the Harley boot gaiters. I put them on over my boots first and then pull the pants on over my boots. Nothing's worse than having to take off your boots on the side of the road and try to put on your rain pants without getting your feet wet.
