NE GA on a 15 Limited
This is our 3rd year.
We are going the long way around this year.
Wife and I head out on the 26th for the Grand Canyon then up through Yellow Stone and over to Custer for the week, a few days in Wall, then home.
Next Friday can't get here soon enough!!
Leaving on Aug 2 for the 1300 mile trip from Dallas to Custer with 2 other guys pulling a 20 ft cargo trailer with all 3 bikes and gear in it. We have a 3 bedroom house rented 2 miles outside of Custer. Have been to Sturgis rally once before in 2008. 2 of my buddies have not been there.
Weather there looks to be fabulous, with lows around 60 and highs around 80. Woo-Hoo!!
As per the last 4 or 5 years, it will be a last minute decision based on whether or not my self employed friends can go. I might go by myself just for the hell of it if none of them can, who knows. 15th time, will be riding one of my two dynas.
I will be riding out next Weds from Ohio. This year, I am staying at Sylvan Lake Lodge in Custer Park. I probably won't spend much time at rally center and will be spending most of my time south where all the good riding is. When I have gone before I always tent camped at Katmandu outside of Sturgis. This time I am treating myself to a lodge room I reserved last year on the cheap.I like the sights and sounds but am going for a more subdued experience this year. Will hit Main Street once and visit Black Hills HD for the vendor areas but other than that it will be all riding time and checking out what the nightlife is like in Deadwood and Custer etc...

We are in Hill City now and just FYI, they've got road construction on 16 and 385 outside Keystone and Hill City. Not bad, just another issue to be aware of.
