Just remember another NOLA story that you might get a kick out of. Back in 1986 when I lived in Hattiesburg, MS if flew a girlfriend (now my wife, Joyce) down for a long weekend visit from Chicago. She was all gangbusters for a visit to NOLA. We drove down on Saturday morning, but I missed the exit on I-10 just past Canal Street. I pulled off the highway and stopped at a seedy gas station and got out to ask directions. As I walked back to the car, I noticed a girl leaning out of her car door puking a Hurricane (famous pink drink originated at Pat O'Brien's) onto the parking lot. Called out to Joyce to look and said, "Look over there! Now that's New Orleans!" It was about 10:30 AM.

As somebody said (above), don't wear sandals.

Don't venture off of the beatin path and you'll be fine. Don't roam on any side streets in the Quarter, stay where the people are! Decatur and Royal streets are my favorites due to the many shops and restaurants they have. The historic New Orleans collection museum on Royal St is a must see. Lots of old New Orleans artifacts to be seen. And you have to stop at the Voodoo Harley Davidson shop on Decatur. It's got some really nice New Orleans themed men's clothing and a few historic bikes now and then. Bourbon St is a must if its your first time.

Planning a trip in April from Fort Worth to NOLA. Any recommendations for hotels with secure bike parking in or near the French Quarter?

I stayed by the airport. Hotels have secure parking.
Take Uber into French Quarter. Streetcar down St. Charles Street.
Take a ride across bridge into Bayou. Funky bars an restaurant. Take a gator tour.
River Road Plantations.
Ride west to Lafayette the heartland of the French-speaking Cajun culture.
Crawfish boils and Fish Fries.

We rode in and stayed at the Mason Dupuis. Cant remember the street, but underground and secured. Tipped the valet kid a $10 when we came and a $20 when we left. He said he was so happy to look at it from his valet podium.

I said if he needs to move it, call to my room and left my number with the front desk. I checked up on the motorcycle each morning (x3) and we never had any issues.

I'd stay there again. (If the border ever opens up -thanks covid.)

Loved the food and always liked the bands there. If you're off Bourbon St a little way, locals bands are a treat.
Was down on business years ago with buddies. Found a band we really liked so invited the wives for the weekend.
Enjoying the group then out of nowhere a girl butt naked starts dancing in the middle of the dance floor.
The looks we got from the wives..... I said "that didn't happen before"... ha
