New River and of Course the infamous New River Bridge.
was that you with several bikes this morning we chatted with? Group of you came back from The Cathedral breakfast place and ate at biscuit place? One woman had her own RG.
Nope wasn’t me with a group - I’m completely solo this trip. How’d your ride go? Hit any other good roads or see any great sights? I got back out this evening. Went up to Fayetteville- cool little town. Road thru it on cr 9 and then 14. Fabulous roads! Ran thru a little gravel but not too bad. Pavement was in great shape - twisty’s never seemed to end. Was getting late and finally had to turn around and head back to the hotel. Great day...great state to ride in!
Glad you are enjoying your trip. I rode down the Talon to Gauley Bridge this morning, then got a wild hair and rode up to Snowshoe from there. Come back when you have more time and I'll give you a few more routes to try. That is, if you are still talking to me after you ride Rt 3

If you think RT 3 is an experience you should try taking the county roads out of Beckley (Dry Hill Rd) that runs across Spruce Mtn, (NOT Spruce ****) then through Clear Creek and connecting with RT 3 just outside of Whitesville! From there you could either loop back to Beckley on RT 3 or you could continue on RT 3 thru Whitesville to just path Seth and take RT 94 (to the right) that would take you Marmet where you could head south on the freeway back towards Beckley.
I was there just last week during a two week vacation from IA. With Charleston as our "base" we rode over on US60, stopped at the Harley shop just before US19, rode over the bridge and returned towards Charleston on Sate 61 before getting back on I-77 and US33 into Ohio.

I run Rt 3 and Rt 1 on a regular basis with a wide load 18 wheeler for work. Piece of cake for both on a bike. Next time you are in the area, take 99 to Bolt and then Ravencliffe road across Little Bolt mtn. Or try Pluto road from the top of Sandstone mtn to Rt 3 at Shady Spring. Or............ I could go on all day, but I think I'll go ride.

I ran Rt 3 to Rt 10 as planned and really enjoyed it - that’s my kind of riding! Beautiful country, roads were generally in good shape and very little traffic as expected. All the twists, turns and switchbacks made me appreciate the map on my nav system! Can’t wait to get back down and check out some of the other routes y’all have mentioned. Thanks again for all the tips and advice!
Brings back a lot of memories for me growing up, mom & dad grew up in the small town of Clay Wv, we went back often to visit family, have made plenty of trips over Gauley Bridge, stopping at hawks nest and all the other little hole in the wall places, coming down off the mountain into Montgomery, just beautiful county.
