Anybody stay here while on the BRP? The wife and I are taking a weekender at the last of the month and found this little place. Have always stayed in chain motels/hotels or cabin rentals so just wanted to try something like this. Any other neat little motels or B and B along the way worrh mentioning?
We used to stay at the Bluffs Lodge right on the BRP.
Very quiet, rustic (no phones, a/c. etc) and a beautiful setting with a great little restaurant diner just a short walk down to the parkway that had the best blackberry cobbler ever!
We haven't been that way is a few years but the last time we were there both had been closed with no re-opening date known.
After that, we ate at Mabry Mill Restaurant (Milepost 176) a few times and usually chose lodging for the night depending on our destination and schedule.
THe last time that we did the BRP we stayed in a little place within a rock's throw of the parkway at Milepost 268, just outside of Boone, NC called the Park Vista Inn (Ph 336-877-5200)
Quaint (on a hill side) but clean and convenient to the pkwy with a little restaurant (not open everyday).
I was trying to find something around the boone/banner elk area but found this place and didn't realize how far from Boone it was until after I booked the room. So we will try it and then give a report on it if its worth visiting. Thanks for your reply. Should have asked before I started looking i guess.

Saw it one day and couldn't remember the name the next day. Then saw this Alpine. So we will give it shot. The Switzerland was a little closer to Boone which is where I wanted to be so I could just jump on hwy 221 to come back home.

Do you use google earth on a real computer?
Rather neat when looking for motorcycle roads and trips as sometimes a map might not show a road and a GPS will sometimes direct you around a mountain to go next door.
The Switzerland Inn and Alpine Inn seem to be about 1 mile apart.
Seems like you could go and visit the Switzerland inn for a review rather easily.

We are staying at Little Switzerland Inn in October for three days, will be our 3rd year in a row. Lots of room choices, indoor or outdoor dining, Not sure what to expect this year, but year's past was always a very social environment. If you are every traveling by yourself they also have the motorcycle bunk house for $89.00 a night. Private room but single bed.
