Default YOUR HELP NEEDED - HDF's Worldwide Interactive Map.

What Are YOUR BEST Places To Go To? AND What is there to do in YOUR area?

We are putting together the BEST EVER places YOU like literally ALL OVER the Globe:

1. Roads

2. POIs (Points Of Interest)

3. Places to eat and drink

4. Places to spend the night.

We know there are MANY biker websites with a bazillion notable places, but we are looking specifically for the ones YOU personally really like.

So, what are yours so maybe we can include them with the HDF Worldwide Interactive Map.

P.S.: 1) We presently have abt 100 pins. 2) If you have a "fav" to share with us, pls give us the address and/or lat/long. TY.

If I want to go for a short ride on a weekend in the San Francisco Bay Area, the place to go is the biker hangout place known as Alice's, or Skylonda. It is at the intersection of Highways 84 and 35 (Skyline Drive) in the hills about thirty miles south of San Francisco. On any weekend day, you'll find 25-100 bikers there either eating at Alice's, or hanging out across the street in the big parking lot in front of the Skylonda convenience store. You will often find some bikers there most weekdays, too. There are many good roads to ride in the Santa Cruz mountains which surround Alice's. And of course there is the Pacific Coast Highway, aka Highway 1 which is fourteen miles west of Alice's. Alice's also has some nice outdoor seating where you are eating your meal surrounded by towering coastal redwood trees. So if you are ever in the area, check out Alice's. It is in the middle of a dense coastal redwood forest.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more suggestions here. Let me add one close to home. Californians are fortunate. We have the Sierra Nevada Mountains running north/south for hundreds of miles. All of the Sierra is wonderful but right in the middle of it is Yosemite National Park. This is an absolute must see bucket list ride. First, there is Yosemite Valley. Sheer beauty. From the west you can approach it via Routes 120 and 140. I like 120. But after a visit to the Valley, head for the high country. Route 120 has been reengineered in recent years so even though it is a twisty two name road, it is a pleasure to ride. Stop and Olstead Point and you get one of those incredibly wide vista, including Half Dome, which is miles away. Then you keep riding east on 120, through Tuolumne Meadows and you then start your climb toward Tioga Pass, the highest drivable/rideable mountain pass in California.

A mile later get ready for some more spectacular scenery as you descend into the Mono Lake region. The town next to Mono Lake is Lee Vining. Myself and four riding buddies rented at the Lakeview Lodge a three bedroom double wide trailer for four nights. Large living room, kitchen and eating area. Private off road area for the bikes in back of the trailer. Two restaurants within a hundred yards. We did a shamrock ride. One day a loop to the north. A second day a loop to the east and one the third day a loop to the south. It was a great ride. Bad internet, though. But we didn't have much internet time. We were too busy riding, eating and sleeping.

And to return to the Bay Area, instead of returning on 120 east, we went north on 385 to route 108 and went over Sonora Pass.

THANK YOU everyone. And MP, I was also very surprised abt the lack of fanfare.

Maybe when the map goes live there will be more interest to add pins.

THANK YOU ALL!!

The Going To The Sun Road, which runs east/west through Glacier National Park is another bucket list ride. The last time I rode there it was with several riding buddies and one of them actually had a written "Bucket List" of rides he wanted to take and the Going To The Sun Road was on it.

Let me put in a plug for the entire Pacific Coast Highway from the state of Washington to San Diego, or any section thereof. My advice would be to ride it going south. That places you next to the water or cliff in many places and it is easier to pull over and take in the view. You actually see a lot less if you are riding it going north. That one lane and shoulder makes a difference. A great place to eat is at Nepenthe's in Big Sur, CA. https://www.nepenthe.com/. Ask for a seat outside on the rail. There you are facing south and have a great view of the Big Sur coastline.
