Default A little update from the road...

First off, thank you everyone for your tips & advice on my first solo road trip. Left Austin Tuesday morning & beat feet for Ruidoso NM, didn't stop other than gas & bathroom breaks since West Texas/Eastern NM are just plain ugly. Long day for sure. Wednesday I rode out of Ruidoso with Cottonwood AZ as my destination, if you get the chance to make this ride via hey 60/12/260. Do it, you absolutely won't be disappointed. About 45 miles out of Show Low a rock took out my windshield so I limped into Cottonwood. Found a local (Phoenix) shop, Ramjet Racing (these guys are freaking awesome, every city should have an independent shop like this) demo'd a Klockwerks windshield but they were out of the size I needed. Quick call to Scottsdale HD & I grabbed a 10.5" Klockwerks. I had a LRS 10" but after speaking with Allen at Klockwerks I was ready to give it a go, I'm glad I did. Great product & great service. Rode out of Scottsdale to Sedona via Prescott. I don't recall who directed me to the 89A between Prescott & Sedona but I owe you a beer. That route has got to be one of the most beautiful rides I've ever done. Sedona to Williams was equally impressive. Stopped at a cool old motel in Williams for the night. Friday I dropped my damn phone while taking a picture and lost it to the canyon below. Rode into Kernville, had some lunch at Kern River Brewing & headed down the Kern River Canyon to my kids place in Bakersfield, I've ridden that road many times but it's still high on my list of nice rides. 1937.5 miles later and I'm taking a day or two off yo visit family & friends before heading for Monterey via some good back roads. From there I'll head south on HWY 1 to Ventura for a couple days. More to come.....

Thanks for the post. Dropped you phone down a canyon? Better get another one: best "tool" to carry on a long ride.

I've also ridden through the Kern River Canyon many time and loved it each time.
