Default Maggie and BRP Update......

Just got back....

The Parkway was a nice ride but almost no color (leaves) and not all visitor centers open....We rode the last 200 miles before the southern end.....There are few bathrooms open but there are porta johns available, if ya look for them....Craggy Gardens for one......LinnCove visitors center was closed.....

Almost no color up there, even at the higher elevations......It was cool to cold in places.....Above 5000' ft and above it got down to 45° in spots.....Take/wear your warmies....lol...

Down in the towns everything was open.....No problems.....and very few if any wearing masks....

We stayed in Maggie.....Everything open.....One restaurant we saw had take out only but we had no problems.....Lots of bikes.....

Its abit early yet for color.....The mountains ringing Maggie are still green.....Peak viewing is still probably 2 weeks or so away......

500 or so miles.....great weather.....Rest stops on 40/77 are open......

These pics are 4000-5500 ft.....if your going on a color ride, need to wait another 2 weeks or so for peak.....There is SOME color around but it is spotty, and mostly up high.....

Just a quick update for those with BRP fall rides upcoming.....

We had a few days and wife wanted to see some more leaves.....(Florida native).....lol.....Oct 14,15..

Rode back to the Parkway and then dropped down into Maggie again....

First day was postcard weather.....about 60....Next day when we rolled out we were in the clouds on the Parkway almost all the way back to Asheville, where we got off and hit I-40 for home.....

Color is near peak at the highest elevations.....Peak is still to come below 5000'......The mountains surrounding Maggie (3800') are still green/yellow, peak there is still 1 to 2 weeks away, depending.....

1st pic is Balsam overlook......
2nd pic is Maggie
3rd and 4th are above 5500' on BRP...
