theres a back road on the way to the cannon and theres this outdoor zoo that it pretty cool...you walk through the woods and all the animals are in cages in the woods...definatly worth checking out..if you go in the summer, keep going east on 6 to towanda and they have that riverfest with a nice bike ride about 90 miles.

Thanks for the pointers. My trip is 6 months away and now I'm mapping out all kinds of places that I want to go during my 9 days. I'm now thinking that after Tioga County PA that I'll drive through the 5 fingers area and head up into the Adriondack Park then up towards Montreal.. then follow lake ontario down towards Buffalo.. then go southwest from there and follow lake erie for a while and then head back to Dayton, Ohio. I'm sure that I'll change my trip between now and July, but so far I'm having fun researching where to go and stay. There is so much good info on the net!

Talk with you soon, Scary

ORIGINAL: HD_Maxima

I have ridden that area and it is very nice. Another great road up that way is 120 out of Lock Haven, very little traffic and a great state park at Hyner View.

scarygt...we spent a weekend riding the finger lakes region this past summer. We had a great time. We stayed at place on Seneca Lake (east side) called 24 ducks. Great little place right on the water and about 5 miles from Watkins Glen. Saturday we rode across to Ithaca and up the west side of Cayuga Lake. Stopped at Tuaghannock Falls State park. (The falls were very cool.) Cut across 20 to Geneva Harley and then onward to Canandaigua, Penn Yan and then along the east side of Seneca lake.

when you leave Johnstown head up towards Benezette, then follow rt120 to Renovo then 144 to rt 6 into wellsboro. Excellent ride 120 will follow the sinnamonha (spelling) river with cliffs on your left. As mentioned ina previous post if you want to stay in Wellsboro make reservations for a little town they get busy.
