I'll be spending much more than an hour. Between 3 nights in Sundance and 4 nights in Keystone, my plans are to spend half days at the hot spots and then meander it back to our cabin mid afternoon. I see nothing absurd in making the best of the only Rally I will ever attend
Oh...I guess I misunderstood the part where you said would stopping at the 2 on the same day be a bit to much to take in on a half day ride..
So, yes...it will be too much for a 1/2 day ride. And as others have said, the best is at night.
maybe I'm missing it, why do you want to stop at the Chip? (campground)
Unless you are going to a specific concert (?) or are staying there (?) based upon your constraints that wouldn't even remotely make my list (personally).
Have you looked up some of the great roads in the area to ride? Spearfish Canyon, Iron Mountain Road etc....outside of some time downtown (Dungeon Bar comes to mind) and the Full Throttle.....IMO spending time riding the area would top my list.
You've got to stop in Hill City for dinner at Desparados. After 5 pm, they server a pork brisket that will knock you socks off - don't even consider ordering the small portion. It's an nice, easy scenic ride back to Keystone on the Old Hill City Road. I'm itching for them to reopen in May.
I've herd many replies stressing the night life. At 71, my partying days have come and gone plus riding back to Keystone at night is looking for a animal encounter
Considering one can go to a concert anywhere, to me, and based upon the OPs time constraint comments, his energies are better spent elsewhere while in Sturgis. His life his time though.

If you buy a concert ticket at the Chip, you can pitch a tent (included) which is way more preferable than riding at night. ZZ Top will be there Wednesday.
They call it the best party in town for a reason, I went there the first time to be on the cheap and wouldnt do Sturgis any other way now.
PS. The photo below is on the way home after, yes, it does wear on you after 6 days.
