The IBR is a scavenger hunt and we are given a book of about 300-400 bonus locations to pick from. There is always a bonus or two in Alaska and one in Key West as well. Sometimes these are sucker bonuses, worth many many points but extremely unlikely to produce a winning route, other times they are the winning route.

I have completed 3 IBRs, all on my 2006 Sportster. I rode about 8700 miles in 2015, 9100 in 2017, and 9000 in 2019. 2017 was actually in 10 days because I lost a day due to a bad stator and had to source one and a 1 3/16" socket in Phoenix AZ on July 3rd.

I can do the miles on a bike, but don't think I can in a cage ...

A guy on a Sporty did the HokaHey in 2010. He lived in Alaska and bought the bike used from someone in Miami, flew down, picked up the bike and rode the Challenge. I rode a section of the Al-Can with him. He and a guy on a Evo hardtail both finished in the allotted time.

As part of my prep, and also because these guys are fun to be around, I'm heading to Texas for the Heart of Texas rally. Four days of who knows what! It starts Tuesday and ends Saturday.

I think the best way to follow this event is to find it on Facebook.

The Hoka Hey is having a reunion in Seguin Texas over Memorial Day weekend. I’m still undecided on if I’m going though.

I don’t have the time to do the rally but I have always immersed myself in my hobby’s.
I am thinking of doing the 1000 mile run in MI this July.
I’ve owned bikes all my life but just really sunk into the lifestyle this past year.

Also, what is the deal with the two web sites. Who is what?

You are not including enough information to properly answer your question. But in an attempt to fill in blanks and answer the question and assuming that you are referring to the IBA and the HHMC......

The Iron Butt Association organizes the Iron Butt Rally.
The Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge is a different organization with a different event.

Each organization has a premier riding event that alternate years. (by design or not, it's just the way it is currently)
2021: Iron Butt Rally
2022 : Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge
2023 : Iron Butt Rally
etc...

Between the two organizations, the main events are the same in the fact that they are elite rides. The rules between the two events are vastly different though.

Do your research on https://www.ironbutt.org and https://www.hokaheychallenge.com or feel free to ask.

I did pretty well in Texas. I ended up in 5th, which is great considering the caliber of riders entered. It was a fun event with a challenging puzzle.
