2021 Iron Butt Rally
This will probably be the last big-ish ride I do before heading for the Start hotel in Utah.
The clock is ticking, and things are getting exciting!!

I'm sure that once the IBR starts, you guys will be social media quiet just because you will be focused on the challenge ahead.
In March I rode from PA out to MO, then down to NC, and finally home for 2900 miles in a week as my first long ride of the year (normally would have been to Jacksonville FL for the IBA banquet but life got in the way)
In April I did all 7 of the PA Tour of Honor memorials in one ride, followed by all 16 of the Mid Atlantic memorials in the two days following. 1800 miles in 3 1/2 days
And then I just rode in the Motorcycle Podcasters Challenge the first 3 weeks of May and put 2500 miles on my bike
Sadly that is it, now the bike is on the lift, the clock is ticking, and I need to help set up parking for an airshow Memorial Day weekend and run parking the following weekend. 5 days later I leave for Salt Lake City UT and need to be there by Sunday night
We are on a Social Media blackout beginning with the pre-rally banquet Sunday night June 20th until we finish Friday July 2.
I am riding a 2018 Road King this year -- one of two Road Kings that I'm aware of that are entered this year.
Other than last minute maintenance items, my bike was pretty well ready to go in early winter and my training rides were going well. I was able to ride several 1,000+ mile rides per month through November to February and planned to progressively increase those as June got closer. In March I developed piston slap in the rear cylinder of my 107 motor and the bike was down for six weeks for a major engine rebuild -- including 114 cylinders bored to 4.125", CP pistons, an S&S crank/wheel set and all new cam chest components. The engine rebuild forced me to cancel a four-corners and a 50CC ride I had planned for this spring but I have been able to put about 5,000 miles on the new motor and hope for another 3,000 before leaving for Utah.
The bike seems good to go but it will get tires, front brake pads and fluids in all three holes the weekend before I leave.

I suspect we'll have better posts in July.
Currently I'm on a Tour of Honor weekend. I decided to stop for the night in Carmel IN.

I've got a TOH weekend planned, too. Ride safe. See you in Utah.
