I'll second the Alpine mention. We always stay there when in Red Lodge.

I like the Pollard Hotel. Across the street to the left is the Candy Emporium. A converted movie theatre. THAT place was AWESOME!!!

I like to stay at the Yodelar. Book early as that town fills up fast. I have had cold days on the Beartooth and I have had t-shirt days up top. I love the weather changes up there

Rode it on Wednesday. They have a construction crew in there rebuilding a narrow part of the road. Where they’re working they have an escort truck that leads you thru the construction area. One very narrow winding dirt lane. The sign as you approach says “motorcycles take extreme caution”. 😅

I went through early in the morning just as it was opening up. Can’t imagine the backed up traffic trying to funnel through there all day.

Will be in the area for several days starting tomorrow. One day next week for chief Joseph and bear tooth, rest probably in Yellowstone!

Default Check road conditions daily.

We were going to ride from Yellowstone up the Beartooth Highway to Red Lodge a few years ago in early August, but there was road construction everywhere out that way (some locals told us they have 2 seasons..."Winter", and "Road Construction"). When the sign says “motorcycles use extreme caution” they aren't kidding - we rode single dirt roads where pavement had been ripped up, for long stretches behind the escort vehicle, with holes, ruts, and puddles everywhere, water truck spraying the dirt made it slick, and winds made things worse. Bikes were covered with mud when we got back to the hotel.
