Beartooth dry on top? How about weather for next week?
Appreciate it if someone's been there or lives in Red Lodge could post.
Anyone have or know of a place for one to park bike and stay a night in Red Lodge?
Rode from NC to west coast and back in August of '19. 2 lane roads and Motel 6 all day long. Jeans and tee shirts the whole trip. Coldest I've ever been on a bike on BT pass. Time of my life otherwise.
On June 4, I rode from Cody WY to the Chief Joseph Highway and then Beartooth Pass Highway to Red lodge MT. The temperature was mid 70s on Chief Joseph but dropped to 52 w/rain at the Beartooth Pass Summit but warmed to 86 degrees at Red Lodge, MT. There were construction delays and snow along the sides of the Beartooth roadway but nothing serious. I’ve known of Yellowstone travelers to be stuck for 2 days during the July 4th holiday due to a surprise snowstorm on the Beartooth Highway so check weather conditions just before traveling that particular route. I also use the WYOMING 511app (cameras, temperatures, wind, etc.) when traveling through Wyoming (I live in Wyoming). I have heated grips but ALWAYS travel with heavy rubber gloves w/liners when traveling through Yellowstone or the Colorado/Montana mountains - even the best GOR TEX gloves will become soaked after several hours of cold rainy riding.
We were out there the week before sturgis 2012 and were planning on riding the Beartooth but they had a snowstorm so we decided to pass. I rode it in 2015 and had nice weather and in 2016 the weather was bad only made it up to the state dividing line.
monuments. Took a couple of pixs and It was so cold and windy we decided to turn around and head back to Cody via Chief Joseph HWY. The mountain won that day. Good luck on your trip. Beautiful scenery up there.
