Rochford Road, South
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), in cooperation with the South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) and Pennington County has prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) on proposed roadway improvements to South Rochford Road. The EA is available for public review, however the public comment period has expired. We encourage you to review the document. South Rochford Road EAThe proposed project would involve transportation improvements for approximately ten (10) miles of South Rochford Road, between the Town of Rochford and its intersection with Deerfield Road and is proposed for construction in 2022-2023. The project is considered necessary to improve year-round access to the Town of Rochford from the Deerfield Lake area. The existing roadway is difficult to maintain with gravel surfaces, steep grades, and drainage issues. Preliminary Plans

A special public meeting regarding the future of the South Rochford Road project was held on June 7, 2017. Special Public Meeting Notice
On June 20, 2017 the Pennington County Board of Commissioners voted to move forward with the project and authorized a work order for Interstate Engineering to begin design work. Construction is proposed to begin in 2021.
