[QUOTE=BuzzCap7;20193742]THAT is 1 of my favorite things to do. But the other way around. South to north.
ALWAYS go the Ice Cream place in St Ignace (beside the chamber of commerce) and go across the street and watch the ferry plumes high into the sky go out to the island.
LOVED IT SO MUCH, I brought my wife on 1 of the trips.
.
Near the Tunnel of Trees (MI 119 I think) I would stop here for a sandwich.

Nice video!. I never crossed the bridge, but I went under it a bunch. First job out of HS was with the Interlake Steam Ship Company on the Frank Armstrong. (1968) Our main trip was Duluth/Taconite Harbor to Chicago hauling iron ore. The ride through the Soult Locks and the St May's River was beautiful. Often crossed paths with the Edmund Fitzgerald. I'm kinda thinking about a Northern trip to Canada. Ya got me thinking about starting in the UP.
I talked to a gal a couple of years ago who was her niece. For the life of me I can't remember where I ran into her. But we were in the area for a football game and I remember seeing the boats on the east side of the bridge the day after the accident.
Never did that. I bridges are your thing try the Bay Bridge/tunnel it crosses the Chesapeake Bay from Cape Charles to Norfork Va. I Think its about 13 miles with stops along the way.

THAT bridge is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Used to LOVE stopping part of the way across. Have my proverbial tuna sandwich inside the building there looking out at the magnificent site. Bcs of 911, they stopped that cafe or getting off the road there several years back. Sadly.
Did u gize know, there is a chap that drives YOUR CAR or small truck ACROSS that bridge for a fee? Yes! MANY people are afraid to drive across it so this guy has a service where he drives YOUR car with you and passengers if any across. LOL cool eh? The Bay Bridge Tunnel Bridge not the MacInaw bridge. Sry. Did not mean to confuse anyone.
What I remember the most is the temperature difference when by the water. It was one of those upper 90's days but when crossing the bridge and looping around US-2 the temp would drop down into the 70's and feel great. It was dramatic that when the road moved away from being next to the lake the temp quickly shot back up into the 90's.
