Rode thru South Dakota and Wyoming years ago. A local told me there is a higher rate of suicides due to the constant winds.
Probably bullshit, but the again that much wind could wear you down.

You'll learn pretty quick here in Colorado... altitude changes weather dramatically.

I've been riding damn near 40 yrs, and it was the sketchiest thing I've ever been thru on a motorcycle...
Thats something you only want to experienced a couple times… I Keep a couple dozen big black tie straps in the bottom of one of my saddlebags in case I ever get into **** like that and all I wanna do is get off the mountain… they make good Emergency chains… I imagine the guys behind you were wondering what the hell you were doing… Lol…

You live in the Mountains, so it made me feel better to hear you say that.

I don't need to experience it again, once was enough. And I don't care if you live in the mountains or not, not many on here regularly push thru snow on a motorcycle on a mountain summit.

As far as the guys behind me, they knew we were in some ****, and couldn't turn around. If we stopped to turn and started sliding, that **** would have been bad, so I kept trucking. Again, we were 2 up and loaded heavy.

We have cardo packtalk bold, and my wife was silent. My best friend his wife was freaking out, talking, etc, and he finally told her to shut up, it was all he could do to focus on following me.

So she shut up and started praying and said "Jesus take the wheel"....

I pointed out she screwed up and Jesus wouldn't help us because there is no "wheel" on a motorcycle. She should have said handlebars, LMAO....

*****!!!

I had to move a tag once... I was maybe a 1/4 mile from the summit of a pass I had to make, but hail and ice told me I had enough, and thankfully I could turn around. When I could finally go back and move it, there was no way I could have done it that day.

There has been a couple of times were Angels sitting on my shoulders guided my handlebars… And one of them was in Utah by the way… Which I know you read about in the Journey’s Thread…

I will point out Utah folks were some of the friendliest I've ever encountered. We were stopped at a store putting on our rain gear, and waiting about an hour hoping the storm would pass, and no less than a dozen people asked me "are you going thru that?" Everyone was giving us descriptions of the **** up ahead, including a boulder that came off a mountain and tore up the road.

I've ridden more this last trip in the mountains than I ever have before, and I don't care if it's summer or not, I learned that dark **** you see up ahead might be SNOW instead of rain!!

I just came through Wyoming, on I-90 and I-25, very little wind this time. Even the stretch from Wheatland down to Cheyenne that is usually a wind tunnel.
