We made it to Moab, Utah. It’s one of our favorite vacation spots! We made a detour on the way there to the four corners monument on the Navajo tribal lands. It’s a spot where four states meet( Colorado, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico). The land around there is desolate but we saw several small herds of wild horses. Today was our last day in Moab, tomorrow we start the 2100 mile trek back to Va. Another great summer trip in the books.
The Colorado river runs just north of Moab and there is UT128 hwy that parallels it for many miles. Think Arches level spectacular but a sparsely travelled twisting road. Then we took a right onto the La Sal mountain loop road and took it to the highest point. The scenery changes in a stunning way to green mountains and cooler temps by 20 degrees or more. Now I consider myself a pretty fair rider but when you really get into the mountain road, you just don’t have hairpin turns to contend with. There are numerous slippery tar snakes, rocks falling into the hwy, natures gravel and on top of all that, cow Pattie’s from free range cattle. Made for an exciting ride, lol
