Old newspaper clipping from 1983
Found this while cleaning out old files. I'm on left with my 1978 XLCR and my friend on his 1977 Low rider. Picture was in a small Norwegian newspaper in his parents original home town. I always like to joke that no cafe racer had ever gone faster than mine at 550MPH. We flew the bikes to Europe on a DC-10
Wanted to make sure you did see this. Seems REALLY NICE!!
"Saturday, we came upon two young people that were out in Hĺland. It’s not an unusual sight here in Tysnes, but these two came from America.
They had come by plane from Canada (they live in Boston, just by the border between USA and Canada) to London. There they “rolled around” the British Isles for a while. They brought the motorcycles with them in the plane over the Atlantic.
From England, they took a boat over to Gothenberg (Sweden) and on their own wheels went over the border to Norway and over the mountains to Vestlandet (The western coast of Norway).
The mentioned was Henry Lie and his buddy, Tom. Henry is the son of Sigvarth Lie from Ĺrbakka and his wife Klara (born Smievoll). They have lived in Boston many years now, but they have a farm in Lie (Ĺrbakka) that they own.
Henry was home to visit relatives and Tom came along as a travel companion. Unfortunately, the time went all too quickly, so we weren’t able to talk much about how the trip had been. But they were in good spirits and had a good appetite on the way home. They will go to Denmark, Germany, Belgium, Holland, France and over the Channel to England to fly home from there."
