Day 4 and 5 of our motorcycle journey! Today we rode from Cooperstown, New York to New Hampshire! There was a road closure along the way of our 7 hour ride (now 8) but I think that was the universe telling us to STOP and enjoy the 4th of July parade! Actually, we're glad we did. Finally, after 8 hours on the bike, we arrived to our next destination, The Glen House Hotel at Mt. Washington! The next morning, Day 5, we rode Mt. Washington Auto Road. What a sight to see and a must have if you are deciding to go. Stay tuned for part 4!
Its weird how roads with huge drop offs and no guard rails give me the whillies. Even though the most a guard rail would do is save the motorcycle, and the rider would be launched over the side.

Well I assume this was last summer........
Glad you to got to ride the Mt Wash, done it many times, keep your eye on the road!!!
It's one of the most magnificent ride around!!
I scheduled a detour to Mt. Washington for us (my cousins and I) on our way to N.S and N.L in 2019.
Just my luck, on the day we got there the auto road was closed due to weather to motorcycles and even though we were both riding Tri-Glides they wouldn't allow us to ride to the summit.
We discussed the option of leaving North Conway early the next day and trying to make the trek but it would have been too much of a ride to keep us on schedule.

I had to laugh at that, although I shouldn't, you come thru and there's a bike just leaning against the quard rail and no one around.
That was quite the ride, definitely have to pay attention. Looked awful steep in places. Looked to be a little more hairy than the Million Dollar Highway.

I love riding mountains and high altitude highways. To me Mt Washington at 6200 ft altitude and at 8 miles long punches way above its weight class because the road surface isnt as good and doesnt have the same camber as some of the taller mountains out west. By comparison, Pikes Peak is 14,100 feet and the Pikes Peak hwy is 19 miles long. As far as the Million Dollar Hwy, its probably more comparable to Chief Joseph and Beartooth Hwy.
