well as bow season nears my riding time will be much less. I had a great summer thoe. I put a little over 5,000 miles on my 05 FLHTCUI. without counting my home state of Iowa I road in 15 states. started back on Mem. day weekend along with 2 extra days of vac. time I road down to Florida for a wedding. on my way home I road up through the Carolina's and Virgina's back around to Ohio, Indiana, Illinois then home. then on the 5th of july a couple of friends from work and I road over to Michigan for lunch on the lake. that was a bit over 700 mile day round trip. on labor day we took and went up to Cabela's in Wisconsin and decided to take the long way home by going up into Minnesota to make it a little over 450 mile day. I'm hoping to go out to Maine next summer and finish up the 11 states I need to have to get all 48 done on motorcycle.....
You'll love Maine if you stay off the interstate highways.Be sure to go to Acadia National Park, get a lobster in Bar Harbor, and go for a whale watch!!! U.S. 201 from Skowhegan to Jackman is a worthwile ride, you might even see a moose.
I'm looking forward to getting up that way. but don't know how much time i'll get to spend there. I have family in Maryland that i will stop and see along the way. it will kinda nice to have been in all 48
However you go, the interstate in Kennebunkport should be avoided at all costs! I've seen it backed up to Portsmouth on a busy summer weekend. A better way to go is across Vt. and N.H.[Kangamangus highway} sp? And into Maine via Route 2. Guarenteed you will like this ride!!!!
sounds good to me...back on the 5th of july when we went to mich. we came back through Chicago. what a mess. we finally dropped south and got off the freeway then we made better time.
Take the Kankamangus (sp). Great ride. Just watch for moose. If you can get to the top of Mt. Washington the view is breathtaking. Went to Bar Harbor and had some lobster when I went to the Laconia run. Anything around that area makes for a good ride.
it opens here on Oct.1st i have been mowing out roads weedeating trails and setting out stands. (26 out so far) it's really getting tougher for me anymore i'll be out there sweating my **** off and i'll hear somebody going down the highway on there bike and all i want to do is go get mine out and go for a ride. but i know i need to get the work done to have a good deer season
