We are thinking this years trip will be starting at Seattle then go south seeing the sights [ PCH, coastline, redwoods etc.] to the bottom of Big Sur, San Luis Obispo. From there maybe turn around and go back to Seattle taking a more inland mountain route.
We've mulled around heading east to Vegas via Bakersfield as neither of us have ever been there and want to see the dam and canyon while there is still water.
Not a lot of interest in any of the cities.
We'll have 2 weeks starting the Saturday of Labor Day.
Hoping it will be easier to ship this year than last.
Sounds like a great ride. If it was me, I'd avoid Vegas and instead, after you go through Bakersfield, take 395 north to Lake Tahoe, then continue north on 89 to Mt. Shasta, then work your way back to the coast and up to Seattle. Or, you could stay inland through Oregon and Washington before heading back to Seattle. Either way, that's a lot of miles for two weeks.

This^^^^^
Highway 58 SLO to I-5 Bakersfield. 58 over Tehachapi Pass to 395.
395 north. East side of Sierras. Lone Pine Alabama Hills and view of Mt. Whitney. Bishop. Mammoth Lakes.
395 to Tahoe / Reno / Mt. Lassen / Shasta.
Then north.
Picked a great year. Snow caps on Sierras. Full Lakes Tahoe and Shasta.
Let us know if you want stops on the PCH, Redwoods, Monterey, Big Sur to SLO

Yes Sir I do!
We are not locked in to Seattle. Only reason that got picked is we can get a non stop flight there and back and figure it's big enough shipping wouldn't be a problem. The more I look at the map the more I see how big the area is. Vegas is a reach so we'll make that another time.
Our goal,
Redwoods, mountains, the coast, Big Sur, wine country and forests. Yosemite NP is looking like a destination. {did Glacier last year]
olwhatshername threw a 17 mile road around Pebble Beach golf course into the hat last night she's interested in.

Sounds like a great ride! After all my rides/drives through CO in the last couple of years I've gotten in the habit of checking official sites for road closures and so forth. The southern NV area has been getting a lot of rain since last month, hopefully the lake has risen a bit.

Unless things have changed, they don't allow motorcycles on the 17 mile drive. Disturbs the rich golfers.
Yosemite is well worth a visit, but don't just ride through on 120, have a drink at the Ahwahnee Hotel and ride to Glacier Point.
The ride through Yosemite is pretty cool Once you get to the East Gate , Lee Vining, then you head north on 395 At Lakeview, back west towards crater lake And then north, Mount Hood, Mount Saint Helens, Mount Rainier And then back to Seattle.
if you head south from Lee Vining Death Valley, Las Vegas And then you can go see the Dam after the Dam If you like to be alone in the high desert Jump on 93 all the way through Nevada Theres literally nothing there.
