Road Trip restaurants
Out riding one day we stopped to eat at the Wagon Wheel in Needles CA. Some real good food and a cool gift shop. The Route 66 theme is probably somewhat ubiquitous out here in the southwest but it was a great stop.
I believe on the same ride we stayed in Kingman AZ and ate dinner at The Tack Shed Saloon & Eatery Inc., it was a fun place with good food also.
Further down the road to the east in Williams AZ there's Cruiser's Route 66 Cafe, great atmosphere and food with a huge smoker out front. Further still, in Flagstaff, we dropped into Fat Olives for lunch and liked it so well we came back for dinner. On another trip passing through Flagstaff with our good friend Darlene from Winslow she recommended Mike & Ronda's The Place Restaurant East where we stopped for breakfast, she knows the area well and was right on about this one.
Speaking of Winslow, we've made several trips over there in the last couple of years. Flatbed Ford Cafe is great for breakfast and we got great service and Mexican food for dinner at Bojo's Grill & Sports Club. The restaurant inside the La Posada Hotel is a real classy place to eat and a very unique place to stay as well.
The Marble Canyon Restaurant near the Historic Navajo Bridge is on the only road leading to the Grand Canyon North Rim, they serve good food and have a nice gift shop where I always buy a bandana for some reason I can't explain. Further north, in Page AZ, not far from Glen Canyon Dam/Lake Powell we enjoyed a good meal at the Dam Bar & Grille. On a subsequent trip we visited the State 48 Tavern nearby for some good eats also.
Every time through Green River UT we stop at Ray's Tavern for one of the best burgers you'll get anywhere.
El Segundo is my wife's favorite place in Vail CO and then a little further west in Avon, Northside Kitchen is a great place for breakfast.
In Brush CO, Drovers is in the same building as the Livestock Exchange and University Agriculture Department so yeah, you get a great meal there!
Riding through Alpine AZ we had a great meal at the Bear Wallow Cafe.
We had a great German style dinner at The Auslander when we road through Fredericksburg TX last June.
These are just a few that pop into my head from recent memory over the last couple of years. Maybe I'll pop back in with some others from the midwest, east and southeast later.

Yes, Mickey Lu's is a great tradition. Nice place to stop if you are doing the circle tour around Lake Michigan. They don't have mustard or ketchup on the tables, you have to order it on your burger. I haven't been there since 2015, I think I'll take a trip over there this summer.

Awesome. I didnt know this existed. Thanks.
BTW. We lived in Rochester, Ny for 7 years. The Friday fisheries became a sort of competition on the best. You’d get a big long slab of fried haddock, on a pile of fries with the fixins. It’s one of the things I miss about that area. I’ve never found anything to meet their Friday fish fries.
EXCEPT, in the most unlikely of places in Flagstaff, we had a stopover in Flagstaff enroute to Colorado on a Friday. It was a hot ride and all we wanted was to be able to have a short walk for a decent dinner and cold beer. There was a pub type place near our hotel, and we decided to give it a try. First was some big cold beers. Then on the menu board was “Fish Fry”. I asked the server and she said it was haddock. Well, I haven’t had a haddock fish fry for decades so gave it a try. OMG! It was as good as the best we ever had in Rochester. The server said the owner/Chef was from Buffalo, Ny. We were so glad to have gone there rather than the Applebees that was closer to the hotel.
Im proud to say that in all of our bike travels, we’ve only eaten at chain type restaurants a few times. One was Cracker Barrel. We don’t have them in Southern California. And I couldn’t wait to try one once we got to one. We had a dinner & breakfast there. And they both were amongst the top 10 worst food we’ve ever had in a trip.
