TomTom gives turn by turn audio and so does Google maps from most smart phones. With a phone it will still work even when in your pocket.
Not in BFE Montana, Wyoming, Idaho unless you never turn it off/stop it for a fuel or lunch break. Leave it in offline maps you may luck out. Hell, I dont get service in parts of eastern Tennessee/west north cackalackie
A smart phone with built in GPS shouldn't need a service if you download the maps. That is a function TomTom tell you if you use their GO navigation on an Android device.

Correct, all newer iphones have a gps chip built in.
I have some JBL version.... they don't like the wind. Fit tight in the ear but but sound suffers above 45, 50 mph
