I’m planning a 4 hour ride from my house to be in its path, but I’m thinking traffic is going to be a nightmare.
Yup. Already have my glasses! I'm in upstate PA, and planning to head toward Buffalo. It might take me only 3 hrs to get to the center of the path. I'm up in the hills, so I'm not anticipating lots of traffic. Should be a cool experience.
I am in Montgomery County but will be in Austin for work training on that day so we will see. My understanding is the last one was such a mess in Austin a lot of businesses are going to be taking the day off because when it is over in the afternoon everyone is going to bail.

Heading there on the 1st to the west end of San Antonio, got the Military Air show at Randolph that weekend too.

During the one on 8/21/17 we were on a Northwest tour. We were at exactly to zero point when it started in Oregon. We were at a point of complete eclipse, and even though street lights came on, it really wasn’t very dark. It was kind of an eerie weird kind of yellowish color.
