You know they are four laneing 58 from just east of Meadows of Dan down to Stuart. I had to make a few longish stops the last time I went through there due to the alternating one lane traffic. Maybe last Spring in ‘23? When I look at Google maps traffic overlay it looks like they are still working on it.

First off you are all right about people fixating on Dragons Tail and missing the other great riding. I did Dragons Tail and ran short on time.
Just look at those pictures! Fantastic!
I will go back.
Virginia DOT has an outstanding website regarding road closures.
I like the fact VDOT puts in when the hours the most impact to your driving.....They are blasting so you may hear some loud noises. Good info because I come from the flatland....

I knew they were working on 58 between Stuart and Meadows. That's why I opted for Tuggle's Gap.
Only one construction zone delay right at VA-8 & US-58.
A good alternative would be to take "Squirrel Spur Road" a tight twisty road that is just off US-58 and the BRP at Meadows of the Dan,
We were back on the BRP weekend before last. Great time with friends in Maggie Valley and we broke off for an overnight stay in Chimney Rock.
We hit the BRP between Maggie and Cherokee off 19 and ran North. I discovered a fantastic road, Hwy 215 aka Parkway Road. Its near Courthouse Valley Overlook.
We leaned right downhill and this road is a must do. Talking to friends that have done it before I learned if is just as good the other direction toward Lake Logan.
The Dragon, Snake, and others have nothing on this road. The only thing is it is all downhill, or all uphill depending on direction of travel. We were lucky that no one was running down hill. We passed a dozen bikes heading up to the BRP.
I look forward to going back and doing the entire road.
Hey there Cosmic? What is that rock formation with the flag on it? I cannot find it after a basic google search....
I gather you can go it since they have railings and I think I see some folks up there....
Really nice photos.....
I have to go back....I went to the dragon in the middle of September. That seems to be a good time to explore and come on back to the Houston area.....

NIce, I had to look up Hwy 215. That will be a new destination I need to put on my calendar.
Anyone have feedback from Tellico Plains on 165 to 143 to Robinsville? A good while back I did 74 from Cleveland (just north of Chattanooga) to Waynesville and could have turned off on 129 to Robbinsville but was short on time so didn't.

One of our favorite little towns in the mountains. We are less than two hours from there and usually ride up two to three times a year for lunch and to enjoy the area. This was our first time staying overnight there. We really enjoyed it. We found a place right on the river and could see the chimney off our balcony.
Check the area out, its nice with a small HD t-shirt shop there also.
Lake Lure is within walking distance where the movie Dirty Dancing was filmed.
