Fall in the NC mountains gets busy come mid October.
You’ll miss the leaves changing but great riding weather in late September early October.
Bingo.. I'm right now planning a solo ride down there early Oct. Done it solo a couple of times over 20 years ago , did it in 2018 and a buddy on his Beemer joined me, but I'm really looking forward to doing it solo again. Something very cool about going it alone. Do everything on my own time, meet who I want when I want and see what I want to see..

Its actually my preference, to ride like that. Even better if I have a friend or friends who head in the same direction and we just show up at the same motel. Somebody to dine with and drink with. I have a friend who rides east 450 miles from Mississippi, and I ride west 350 miles and meet in Robbinsville every spring.
Another friend who heads to Blowing Rock, and I show up there, and it just works great.
