Been having a "heat wave" here, 30 days in a row with temps over 100 degrees, including a couple back-to-back 114 days. Cooled down to 96-97 for a couple days but now they are calling for at least another week with temps over 100 every day. I had planned a ride to the mountains where it would be cooler, then I found out my daughter was also planning a trip to the mountains, just a little different than my trip. She planned a solo hike on the "High Sierra" trail, 72 miles in seven days backpacking west to east across the Sierras, much of it over 10,000 ft. elevation passes. I modified my plans a little so I could meet her with her husband at the trailhead and wait for her at the end of her hike. She arrived as planned, with sore feet but otherwise OK. She is one amazing woman! I was so glad to see her I didn't get any pics, but I just have to brag on her. She and her husband headed back home while I continued my ride, staying at the high elevations where it was cooler. Just a few pics of my campsite near Lone Pine and Yosemite. The mountains in the background are the ones she backpacked across.
It's called the "High Sierra Trail", over the 10,700' Kaweah Pass. She has done several sections of the PCT and to the top of Whitney over the years. She comes by it honestly, I carried her to the top of Nevada Falls in Yosemite when she was four months old.
Right, Alabama Hills.
LNice Trail.
I’ve done Crabtree and Whitney from the east side then north on JMT over all the passes to Yosemite. But not from the west side through Kaweah Basin

Beautiful scenery. Cool tent, does it pop up, what's it have for a floor?
It's a Cot/tent, basically a cot that comes with a one-person tent that attaches to it with Velcro. Works great, very sturdy, fits in my sidecar fine, but would be too bulky and heavy to carry on a two-wheel bike. https://kamprite.com/tent-cots/
