Default 2 unexpected weeks off work - where to go?

I’m going to have 2 weeks off between resigning from my current position and starting my new one. Looking like July 1-14. I don’t usually make long daytime runs in mid-summer but I’m considering an exception for this one. Looking at 3-4 days on the road and somewhere around 1000-1200mi or so. I’ll most likely be solo and that’s fine. I’m in the SE corner of Tx so it’ll be a ride from there. Any suggestions?

I have. I’m out on NOLA. The riding is garbage and so are most of the people you encounter. Thanks but no thanks. Unless you’re talking about North Louisiana and not New Orleans.

I want to ride, not party. A drink in the evening with dinner is great but my bar hoping days are behind me.

NOLA is a shizzhole...nothing but homeless and smells like weed and BO everywhere. Only good thing there is the cruise port. Ride up to Murfreesburo, Ark. Check out the diamond mines. Don't know if the riding is good around there but the mine might be kinda interesting or at least something to do.

The Ozarks in NW Arkansas and the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee and North Carolina are both good destinations that offer several days worth of great riding after you get there.

Colorado Springs might be a stretch from SE TX, but there are several good rides in the area including Pikes Peak, Trail Ridge Road, and Peak to Peak Scenic Byway.

Ride to the Grand canyon then cruise up to the hoover damn then Las Vegas. But that's a long trip. Tons of good riding in northern arkansas.
Enjoy your free time.

I agree with dbarbee.
The Ozarks and the Smokies are close to your riding time and I might suggest the pleasant ride up Natchez Trace out of Natchez, MS up to Nashville, TN. It's a slow ride with some Civil War cites if that might in interest you.

The Ozarks are a favorite of mine. Pig Trail, Talimena etc. an easy full day’s ride from home. I’ve considered camping but the idea of a cool room after a hot day on the road sounds appealing.Natchez Trace sounds pretty good too. I’ve never done that specific route, somehow I’ve never been to Nashville either, only passed through it

thought about another Iron Butt run too, I looked at a route I’d like to try. Might not do that one till it cools off though.

how’s the riding in West TN? I have a trip to the Smokies planned for the fall so I’ll get there later in the year. Going to check out Wheels Through Time!!

an end to end BRP trip is a bucket list check of mine but I don’t think it’s doable right now with construction and such, plus the time I’m allowing.

Keep the heat in mind, I would stay out of New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada. I’d go through eastern Oklahoma, and the Ozarks of northern Arkansas & Southern Missouri,
