I'm a new rider taking my first road tripnext weekend. I'm heading for the Blue Ridge Parkway. Anyone know of motorcycle friendly places to stay in Brevard?
Hampton inn or Holiday inn Express are about the only two options in Brevard
(actually Pisgah Forest)
They do have some flea bag joints but I have been told they are not very good.
I work out that way PM me and maybe we can hook up for a ride..
Thanks for the info. As far as riding together, I had never been on a motorcycle until my MSF class last weekend. I've put 400 miles on my new Sportster 1200L in the first week and I'm coming up from Charlotte next Friday to cruise the BRP. I feel confident enough in my skills to head for the mountains, but not enough where I have to worry about keeping up with other riders.
Ben... I'm realtively new to motorcycles, myself, and I understand your feelings about riding with others at this time. For you experienced folks, it's not that some people who don't ride with others are being anti-social... a lot has to do with our perceived place on the "learning curve". And is really centered on a level of self-confidence and consideration for the more experienced people we may be riding with!
One thing, Ben, that with my limited experience I AM qualified to share: Don't get visually fixated on an object... you WILL steer into it!!! In curves, look BEYOND the curve to where you WANT to be. I've found myself looking too much to the middle of the curve and its almost caused my to come off the road. Look beyond "where you are going" to "where you want to be"!!!
Oh!!! and DON'T be stingey with the pictures!!! We WANT to see a lot of them posted here! Stay safe and enjoy the trip.
Jim aka kiltiemon (and lest I forget... a website said that with all the rain in the Southern Applachians recently, lots of gravel has washed out of side roads onto pavement in various areas. Watch for that! I think some of that is what brought down ****** about a year ago.)
