Once again
About 8:00pm tonight, more or less 20 minutes ago, Kat "The Biker Babe" says, "Let's do an overnighter to Laughlin tomorrow."
"Huh," says I.
"Yeah, only this time we're wearing the chaps; well at least I am. You make reservations and I'll go pack."
"Uh,..."
"Just do it!" *Heather, if you are listening, please tell me where I may obtain the whip cracking smiley*

"Yes, Ma'am."
More to come later when we get back... maybe even a pic or two.

Okay, I'm back. Here's the first instalment.
Left here about 10:30 Saturday morning with temps just below 40*. Slik longies, wool socks with gortex lining, insulated hiking boots, levis, lined chaps, two long sleeved t-shirts, heavy rugby shirt, lined motorcycle jacket, thinsulite lined gauntlets, wool scarf, hood, flip-up full face helmet, and a prayer for more sun is what we were dressed in. Still it is very cold at speed. Prescott to Ash Fork to Seligman, we stop for breakfast. Uh oh, owly wife at the stop. She's cold and don't like the place I chose to stop. I'm really considering turning back at this point; if Kat ain't happy, it ain't gonna be a fun trip. Plus it's all my fault[:@]. We suffer silently through breakfast and warm up some. After breakfast she sits silently in the sun while I gas up for the next leg.
Twenty minutes down the road is the Grand Canyon Caverns that has gas, restrooms, and a cafe among other attractions. She did not at the breakfast stop so I pull off here to see if she needs to now. "You don't need to stop because of me," says she.
Uh, oh, "long suffering housewife" routine (almost as bad as "The Look"). At this point I really would have turned back if we had not contacted our daughter in Las Vegas that we were on our way.
Off again. Peach Springs, Thruxton, Hackberry flash by. As we head down out of the high country towards Kingman it warms up to about 50* and Kat starts pointing out trains, ranches, deserted service stations, and little clumps of houses. This is a very good sign. At Kingman we stop for some hot coffee and she is actually smiling. So we hang out at the station and talk to the proprietor, drink hot chocolate, and warm up for about 20 min. Then she tells me what a great time she had coming down the off the plateau and how great the scenery was. Okay this is gonna be good now.
Last leg into Laughlin is almost uneventful. We top the pass and start down the steep grade into town. Now the wind starts. The canyons around the Colorado River below Boulder Dam always seem to be windy. The Road Glide takes the wind gusts without much fuss, but it is still pretty exciting for us. All in all a good days ride even if it did start out badly.
Now we call up our daughter, Brooke, to see if she, her boyfriend, and our 18 month grandson will be able to meet us for dinner. Well this turns out to be a definite maybe as their truck is broke and they will have try to borrow a friends vehicle to come down and see us. After 2hrs this turns out to be a no go. They tell us they will work on their truck and try to meet us for breakfast on Sunday.
Note: After Kat read this, she wants to make her own comments
and so the saga will continue with her comments. [:@]
