I'm heading into these parts at the end of june - first week of July.. come on folks keep on pointing out really cool places to check out. I don't really care all that much about history, but I do love scenery that I will remember for a long time to come.I'll only have about 7 days in this area.. someone suggest a really cool loop. I'll be coming in from PA and I wanted tomake a big circlethrough the adriondacks and then follow lakeontario down to buffalo... and then follow lake erie's shoreline back into ohio. Please make somegood suggestions with names of places that I should go.
Took a similar route as Chappy this past summer except we came up through Saratoga (August is horse racing month at the oldest and nicest track in the US). Even if your not in to horses Saratoga is worth a stop. Lake George and Lake Placid are great stops along some great scenic roads. Have fun!
I'm going to start out my Adirondack trip way south at Mayfield on Route 30. I was thinking that I'd take 30 north to Tupper Lake then take rt 3 to Lake Placid and stay the night. I'm then thinking that I'd head west to route 9N and go south to Lake George (and that would take me through the Keene lake area). I'm then wanting to cross over into Vermont and check out some of the riding over there. Is there a neat place (fairy or bridge) to cross into Vermont at the southern most part of Lake George?
And what do you think of my route? Will it give me the best bang for the buck. I'm thinking that I will only spend two days going through here and then a few days in Vermont and NH. I found someone that posted a 650 mile loop in Vermont that looks promising.
And you are more than welcome to meet up with my wife and I for a day of riding if you want to. It will be the beginning of July 4th week.
