Planning trip to Ozarks last week in June 08. Going to say in Eureka Springs for the week and ride out from there each day. Any recommendations on where to stay; motel, hotel, cabins?
There is a web site, "Crusin the Ozarks" that lists some biker friendly places but....
I stayed here: http://www.eureka-net.com/sugarridge/back in '95 and it was gorgeous. The cabins are all cedar inside and they overlook Beaver Lake. I'm not sure what the rates are now, but I think I paid under $100/night back then. There's nothing like watching the sun come up over the lake while having a cup of coffee on the deck. I went to the local grocery store and bought some steaks, brats, charcoal, etc. and grilled out most of the time. Each cabin has its own grill. The cabins look all rustic on the outside, but they have all the comforts of home (TV, DVD, microwave, oven, fridge, etc.).
dbc...I did a trip to the Ozarks last August and we stayed at Iron Horse Stables in Berryville, which is about 5 miles west of Eureka on Hwy 62. It's a biker-oriented motel. The owners are very friendly and accomodating and know all of the best roads in the area...they'll even supply you with maps of some of the best routes for daytrips. Prices are very reasonable, with parking right outside your door. There's a restaurant/saloon on-site (serving alcohol), although the menu is rather limited to breakfast and bar-type food. However, it's only a quick jaunt into Eureka for more food offerings. I'd stay there again, if I'm ever back in that area.
There are many places in Eureka that would fit anyones taste. We frequent the area and have always found great accomodations. Have always been able to ride in and find a good clean room at a reaonable rate. Enjoy!
We've stayed at the Iron Horse Stables. Nice people and biker friendly but verrrry primitive accomodations. You can park right at your door and they build a nice big fire in the parking lot each night for just sitting around and visiting/drinking. As stated, breakfast is their best meal, go into Eureka for lunch or dinner. The showers were so small I couldn't turn around in them and I'm not that big. If you're looking for nicer accomodations they are easily had in the area! Arkansas is a great state for riding!
