eureka springs is one of the nicest places i have ever visited. we also stayed at the Edelweiss Inn a couple times and some other place (like econo lodge) the last time. got lot of good riding advice from the owner at Edelweiss. you can head out on just about any road and you will not be dissapointed. southern missouri is the same. enjoy. nice little breakfast place across the street from edelweiss. forgot the name of it but i'm sure you can't miss it. pretty popular eating place.
very motorcycle friendlytown (just don't go crazy withrevvingthe engine). beautifulscenary and good eating places.
We are in Dallas and ride the Talimena trail to Mena to Eureka Springs at least twice each year. The loop from Mena north on 71 to 23 (the pigstail) to Eureka is a great ride. Stay at the Swiss Village Inn (800-447-6525) in Eureka. Very biker friendly and close to Eureka and restaurants. From Eureka you gotta ride the Scenic 7. Be sure to stop at the Cliff House to eat. It's on Scenic 7 close toJasper. What a view and make sure you order the "Companies Coming Pie".
If you get a chance ride up to the top of Mt Magazine the highest point in Arkansas.
Doin the Talimena Scenic Byway later this year, by way of Eureka Springs. I will 2nd the Swiss Village Inn, as we stayed there last year. (liquor store within walking distance, so no need ride & drink)
If you head south out of Eureka Springs, you can take the Pig Trail, and then head towards Mount Magazine State Park (highest point in Arkansas).
Did Eureka Springs last August and stayed in a jacuzzi room at the Candlewick Inn, had the whole building to ourselves, right next door to a great breakfast place too. Am going again over Memorial Day weekend, just got to stop by the cathouse for another beer and sit out on the porch and watch all the bikes, and don't forget to stop by Shawby's! Got some good rates at the Candlewick, not 4 star, but clean and affordable. Nice pool and close to all the things you'd want to see right on Hwy. 62. Going to stay for 3 days and then go on down to Hot Springs for another 3 days, coming back by way of 71 through Joplin and back up to Kansas City. Good ride and lots of things to do in Eureka Springs, just remember to keep a saddle bag empty to put the things you buy into, or like we did, just ship them to yourself at home.
Thanks for the great info. Looking forward to riding the Ozarks. By the way, I know it can rain anytime but doesanyone know what the rainey seasonis? We are looking at either the 3rd or 4th week in June.
Not much of a rainy season. The early spring (now till May) can see some strong storms though. Any rain after May will be accompanied by higher temps ...so not too bad.
Check this place out in Kimberling,MO. Not far from Eureka Springs at all. Mainly for Bikers.
Place is like frozen in the '50s. Very clean and quiet, right on Table Rock Lake. Balcony's in your room overlooking the lake at sunset, very nice view. Maps for day rides.
The owner, Evy, plays guitar in the small lounge at night with some friends, good friendly folks. I was by myself and they made me feel right at home.
