Heading to the Grand Canyon, Tombstone and Laughlin. Then we plan to take the Coast Hwy back to Washington. Any suggestions on what to see or do? This is my first time.

You've got some gorgeous riding ahead of you! Too much to see to even start to mention. It will get REAL good once you get off I-15 in Cedar City and head up over Brian Head towards Panguitch.

 

Just north of San Luis Obispo is a great little town called Cayucos. Great place to stay right on the ocean and a great little tavern. Card room in the back if poker is your game. Just north is Harmonypopulation 18... don't blink or you'll miss the town.

Of course if you find yourself in Eureka around dinnertime... gotta check out the Somoan Cookhouse. Good home cooking.

I would have a tough time making that left at the 89 & 9 split in Utah. I prefer Zion over the Grand Canyon myself.GC isone of those "gotta see it" places I know. Zion is stunning too.
You will love either way. Try and hit Oatman near Laughlin on Rt. 66.

Hey Boebadam, funny story...I knowa former Postmasterof Harmony. How tough could that have been eh? 18 people, that mail sorting could have taken, what,2 or3 minutes????
It's about a 2 minute loop to ride through town.

If you're going to cut through Utah on I-15 for most of the way then I'd strongly suggest coming on down to Cedar City and taking Utah 14 over Cedar Mountain to 89. Nothing against Beaver (it's a nice place to visit any chance you get) but you might find the extra 50 miles to Cedar worth the ride.

If you take 14 over from Cedar then you'll run by Navajo Lake and Duck Creek, which are between 8500 and 10500 feet in elevation. It's a GREAT ride up 14 from Cedar City. You will literally go from high desert to Alpine forest in the run. And the views are spectacular. This first shot is looking south toward Zion National Park from one of the many great pullouts along 14 ...

One of my favorites is his picture of Cedar Breaks, which you can get to on the 14 loop or by cutting back from 89 ...

 

Ditto what JMCollision and doc_Cj said. The less one travels I-15 through Utah, the better, although the Virgin River Gorge...nevermind; that's Arizona. Cedar Breaks is well worth the side trip / detour.

Also. take the day trip to Oatman and the 66 into Kingman. The road from Oatman is pretty cool and you can cool off at teh Kingman dealership if you're into dealerships. They have a tent with beer and food outside.
