Next week I will be flying to Phoenix. I will have one day to rent a bike and ride around. I would ask someone who is familiar with the area for a one day ride plan. Thanks in advance.
US 60 from Phoenix to Wickenburg. 89 from Wickenburg to Prescott (get in touch with Tripper).89A from Prescott to Flagstaff, I-17 from Flagstaff to Phoenix. If it's too cold and snowy in Flagstaff, take 179 from Sedona back to I-17, then South to Phoenix.
If you make the full circle it will be about 330 miles and some wonderful riding country. If you have to skip Flagstaff you will cut off 40 or 50 miles.
Just got in from my ride. Some great scenery! I rented an EG standard at Hacienda, and rode up Scottsdale to the Carefree highway, then on to Wickenburg, Prescott, Jerome and Cottonwood. Then I went to I17 and back to Phoenix. All good roads except a couple of miles which were being repaired. Lots of tight 15 and 20 mph turns. Jerome is a cool place, stuck on the side of the mountain at 5000 ft. Time did not permit me to get to Sedona, but I will be back. Weather was in the 70s most all day. Thanks to Bill for a great trip plan.
