This is a nice run....
off of 20(runs east/westjust south of i90)head north on 10 (at sharon springs)..turn right on 8 and go towards speculator..take 30 north to indian lake..take 28/30 to blue mtn lake ...cont. on 30 north to long lake....go east on 28n towards i87 take the jog just past the hudson towards t. rosevelt mon. that takes you to the i87...jump on the interstate and go 1 exit north...take 73 to keene and follow 73 into lake placid. a good one day trip is to the chasm(by keeeseville) and white face mountain. a decent place to stay in lake placid is the alpine inn and rest. you can park your bike in front of the rooms and they have efficency suites.....as your coming into lake placid you'll come to set of light at the main drag...turn right and the hotel is down a quarter mile on the right.....it's a short walk to all the town restaurants and bars....don't forget it's a short ferry ride to vermont and then new hampshire(no taxes) in new hampshire you have the white and green mountains as well as mount washington.. this way you can do a big circle and ride some beatiful roads.

and from the north

MY BUDDY AND THE WIFE AND I HAVE TRAVELLED THAT WAY BEFORE OUT OF TORONTO. TAKE THE 401 PAST BROCKVILLE AND CROSS OVER WHERE THE 416 HEADS TO OTTAWA...BUT TURN RIGHT. ONCE YOU CROSS THE BORDER TURN RIGHT.....THIS WILL TAKE YOU OVER TO OGDENSBURG. IT'S BEST TO FUEL UP THERE. HEAD SOUTH EAST ON68 TILL YOU GET TO CANTON. FOLLOW 11 EAST TOWARDS POTSDAM AND TAKE 11B TOWARDS NICHOLVILLE. THERE YOU WILL PICK UP 458/30 TO SMITH FALLS. THERE YOU WILL PICK UP86 INTO LAKE PLACID ....THIS WILL TAKE YOU IN THE BACK WAT THAT IS REALLY BEAUTIFUL. WE STAY AT THE ALPINE IN AND RESTAURANT ON THE FAR SIDE OF TOWN...IT'S AN EASY WALK TO ANY RESTAURANT AND BAR. THE NEXT DAY CONTINUE ON 86 TOWARDS WILMINGTON AND JAY. ON THE WAY THERE YOU WILL SEE AN ENTRANCE TO WHITE FACE MOUNTAIN..IF YOU GO UP IT'S A GREAT VIEW FROM THE MOUNTAIN DOWN ONTO LAKE PLACID AND MORE. WHEN YOU GET TO JAY TURN LEFT AND TAKE 9N TO THE AUSABLE CHASM...JUST PAST THIS GREAT SITE YOU WILL GET TO THE FERRY...IT'S A SHORT RIDE TO VERMONT. HTERE NOT MUCH IN UPPER VERMONT ..JUST HEAD TOWARDS LITTLETON NH. TAKE 302 TO GLEN THEN HEAD NORTH ON 16 TO GORHAM.(THIS WILL TAKE YOU THRU MOUNT WASHINGTON...THIS IS A GREAT RIDE).TAKE 2 INTO MAINE. WE THEN HEADED SOUTHEAST TOWARDS ROCKLAND(JUST SOUTHEAST OF AUGUSTA...THIS IS A GOOD DAYS RIDE. THE NEXT DAY WE HEADED NORTH ON 1 RIGHT UP TO CALAIS AND THE BORDER. JUST OVER THE BORDER PAST ST.STEPHANS TURN RIGT ON 1 AND HEAD TOWARDS ST.JOHN..THIS WILL TAKE YOU BY ALOT OF BEACHES. WHEN YOU COME BACK IF YOU HAVE TIME HEAD TOWARDS LEBANON NH AND HEAD SOUTH 12A TOWARDS CHESTERFIELD..CROSS INTO VERMONT PICK UP 30 TOWARDS TOWNSAND AND 100 BACK TOWARDS WILMINGTON. HEAD WEST ON 9 THRU BENNINGTON...THE VERMONT RIDE IS GREAT. THIS WILL TAKE YOU INTO NY STATE. YOU CAN PICK UP 20 THAT HEADS WEST AND RUN FOR THE LEWISTON BORDER OR TAKE 414SOUTH OFF 20 TOWARDS WALKINS GLEN AND BACK UP 14 BESIDE THE FINGER LAKES. THERES GOOD HOTELS IN ITHICA.
IF YOU EVER WANT TO DO A 3 NIGHT TOUR..I HAVE A GREAT ROUTE THRU THE ANDIRONDAKS IN NY STATE AND HOME. IT BASICALLY CIRCLES THE LAKE ON SOME OF THE NICEST ROADS...WE DID THIS RIDE IN LATE SEPT. THIS YEAR WHEN THE WEATHER WAS HOT FOR 1 WEEK.I ALSO HAVE A GREAT ROUTE THRU NEW YORK AND PENN...IT'S A NICE 3 NIGHT RUN. WE HAVE BEEN FORTUNATE TO HAVE RIDEN IN 42 OF THE 50 STATES AND MOST OF CANADA...YOU'LL LOVE THE ROADS IN THE STATES....THEY PUT ROADS WHERE WE WOULDN'T AND I FIND THEM A LOT BETTER MAINTAINED. IN 2008 THE WIFE AND I ARE DOING THE KEYS AND 2009 THE EAST COAST..CABOT TRAIL,PEI,NOVA SCOTIA, GASPE ETC. LIFE IS GREAT ISN'T IT.
BE SAFE ON YOUR TRAVELS...
