green mt, VT from Gloucester, mass to Niagra Falls
will be traveling from Gloucester, Mass to Niagra Falls New York. thinking about staying in Bennington area for a day...any infor on camping spots or good riding in green mountains?? what about the covered bridges??

How many days do you have to play with? I drove from Southeast NH to Niagra Falls last year in one day (stay on the Canadian side!!!!!) and it was a bit over 500 miles. I used Rt 20 across much of NY which is a fair trade off of being able to move and not being on the interstate (actual route was Route 9/202 in NH, Route 9 across VT then 7 to 20 around Troy but the Mohawk wouldn't be bad either then ride up into Bennington) but I still had to bail around Geneva in the finger lake region and use the slab for the last 100 mi or so. Breaking the ride up is a good thing. Route 9 from Brattleboro across to Bennington is a great ride and you can add a loop on the southern part of 100 then head back to Wilmington pick up Rt 100 N and head toward Route 30, pick up 11W and grab 7 or 7A South into Bennington. I know of three or so bridges right in Bennington that you could conclude the loop with. Most of the bridges we have targeted in VT were further north or mideast VT (like Cornish).

Green & White Mtns man, you have a LOT of GREAT riding up there!!!!
I ride up there almost EVERY year.
I am trying to get up there 2 times THIS year.
I am too tired to say a lot and will try to get back here tomorrow but......

Mt Washington
From Mt Washington and Pinkham Notch go south on 16, west on 302 (right there) as you go west you will pass Attatash Ski Area on left is (then Bear Notch Rd closed in the winter) but keep going you get to Mt Washington Hotel.
GORGEOUS VIEW OF HOTEL! And lunch in back of hotel is cheap and GOOD!
Then having coffee on their HUGE WRAP AROUND PORCH is a MUST DO!
You have a Bazillion more places to ride up there.
I was born and brought up just west of Boston and Rockport is REALLY freaking nice u lucky b'tard!
