Did it last June, it was cold (damn cold) and raining the whole thing. We are going to do it again in July this year. Plan on camping the whole way, We already know of a couple great camping spots but if anyone has any more tips on campgrounds, eateries, or side trips along the way I'm open to suggestions.
Last year was a last minute, "So where to now?", "**** it, you want to go around Superior, I'm off until Monday" trip and was lot's of fun. Hoping this one will be as well.
When we know the details of when we are going I'll post it, maybe we can meet up somewhere. There is a great place to eat in Botchowana Bay, possibly the best breakfast I have ever had (hard to beat southern biscuits & gravy though.)
We are looking at leaving July 13 or so and taking 4-5 days. Probably going to take our time and see a few more things along the way this time around. Only place I know for sure that we will stay is the last night in Bayfield, WI.
I believe that they still offer some sort of short term passport thing for this year but I'm not sure. I know that they delayed they "you need a passport" law for Canada and Mexico because they were so backed up.
I know as off last fall they were pretty fast about passports, a friend got his in 4 weeks after sending in all the crap.
They made me show mine in Vancouver. Then I had a little trouble getting in. Because of some DUI arrests 25 years ago I am criminally inadmissible to Canada and had to buy a permit.
Was talking with my neighbor about maybe doing a ride around lake Superior this summer we would be leaving from Mille Lacs lake Minnesota and heading to Duluth and up the arrowhead. Not sure when exactly we would be going but we did take a run up to Thunder Bay Ontario two summers ago in August and it was chilly then!
