pa to vegas
planning on going to meet some friends in vegas in the middle of june. leaving on a weds and comming back the following sunday. 11 days total. i know its not much time, but i would like to go out on the northern end of the country, and return the southern end...maybe rt 66. anyone done this, and some areas to see and areas to avoid. i will only be spending 2 days in vegas...the rest just touring. and i will have the ole lady on the back

I've been all over the west and would recommend taking 70 until you get to Colorado, go through Rocky Mountain National Park, back onto 70 and then head south on 191 in Utah. You can see Arches National Park, Canyonlands, Natural Bridges, then take 261 down to Valley of the Gods, Monument Park, Four Corners, Shipwreck (a little out of the way, but cool to see) and then down to Canyon de Shelly National Monument (it's off 191), then over to Grand Canyon and into Vegas via the Hoover Dam. On the way out you can take I-15 and see Zion and Bryce Canyon and then make your way up to Grand Tetons/Yellowstone and then home via Mount Rushmore and the Badlands. This is a trip I want to do next summer. Route 66 isn't really much to see, just nostalgic. If you're going a different route let me know and I might have recommendations for things to see.

i was planning on doing the bad lands yellowstone and rushmore on the way out to vegas. i want to take a more southern route on the way home. new mexico, arizona exc..route 14 i wanted to check out. 4 or 5 days out, 2 in vegas and 4 or days back
