My wife used to bitch about the "disposible socks". But when I explained to her you can buy a 6pk of socks at wally world for 3-4 bucks it's like spending 75cents a day and less laundry she has to do. I think she gets the point now. Considering her daily pack of cigs are now over $5 a pack.

No longer pack leather gear. For all weather riding I've become a fan of cordura. It packs lighter and a ton smaller that mine and hers leather chaps and jackets.

I thought about dumping the leather chaps, etc last trip. We had six days of total sun (up to about 110 deg in areas) and thought "what the hell did I buy her these for?" Then the last day, we travelled from Whitefish, MT to Calgary, AB passing through Glacier and as we crossed the border....f*cking bam! Winds about 60mph, hail and rain for the last 120 miles. Was happier than hell that we had them then.

Piggy, I have no idea why anyone would pack dress shoes. I told the wife she could bring one extra set of footwear (besides her boots) and she wanted flip flops. No way. No flip flops allowed on the bike...period. I bought an el-cheapo pair of runners while we were gone, but I'll just bring a set when we go this time (sometimes ya just gotta get out of the boots).

RDKingRider - You got that right about always buying sh*t. We had the saddlebags and the king tourpak on the SG, and we still had to buy a medium dufflebag to strap to the top of the pak by the time we were coming home. WTF? I used to travel with NO bags and just bungee crap on the passenger seat. Never needed anything else. As for women's hair stuff, buy her a "pretty" do-rag and voila! Her hair is done.

You're a hard man! But right about flip-flops. Hair? Get it cut real short for a long trip, so it only needs a quick dash through the shower. Buy her a fancy hair-do when it has grown again!

Bike cover. The first long trip I went on, I brought my cover. Used it once. Pain in the a$$. Even if it rains the bike gets wet under it and I have to towel it dry. Never took it again.

hydraboss hit it on the nose, travel light. you'll be buying tee's and all that on the road from the places you'll go. my bro goes as far as mailing stuff back home as he goes so he doesn't have to worry about laundry and all.
i wouldn't worry about a washing kit. i know i've woken up to find a bucket and towels by my bike when staying at hotels before.
save the room for stuff you'll need like raingear, leathers, etc.

I packed a tent for ten days. The lady on the back had cramps and had to pee every 25 miles. Never used either for the whole trip and should have left both home.

I throw the leather saddle bags over the back fender and mount down the double seat. If a long trip with a lady, I'll alow her one saddle bag and a duffle behind the sissy bar.

That is funny Guido! My ole lady rides her own Deluxe so she can take whatever she wants but she knows I won't pack any of her gear!
