Mr Zip, You are the man!!! Great job. Me and a riding buddy were talking about riding to Morganza to see if we could recognize anything. I gonna rewatch the movie and see if I can tell anything about the ride in Louisiana before they got to Morganza. I figured they would have been on Hwy. 1, And I-49 wasn't there then. And Hwy. 1 runs along I-49 alot.
Thanks for all the info!!
Chop On,
Robert
Thanks Robert...
If you find the cafe in Morganza, can you send me a picture by chance?
When my buddy gets in from work we are gonna ride down there. But, he's in Africa, and probably won't get back till July. But we will definately look for the cafe. And if we can find it, I'll send you some pics for sure. Thanks again for the great info.
To me, Easy Rider was about the riding scenes. Not only was there superb lonely stretches that begged to be experienced, but one also gets to see images of a very quickly fading (at the time) Americana in the background of the movie. The scenes of tradional America in the movie are pretty much gone now. This action proves to be a win, win situation. This is a true art work, which will be a success story

That was great. I was just driving (with the family) yesterday along the Sunset Crater/Wupatki Road Loop and 89 and passed by sacred mountain gas station and didn't even know it until you brought it to my attention. Awesome songs/video, just got them from itunes before writing this. Was out at Bellemont today on old 66 at the dealership, wish would've known, I would've headed down to the end, oh well, another day. Thanks for the great post. Looks like I have some catching up to do this summer when I roll up to Bear Tooth from Flagstaff. As someone mentioned above, probably the best post I've read here in a long time.

It's funny, I see guys on harleys all the time when I pass that road who stop at the wide spot on the side of the road a mile north of Sacred mountain and not sacred Mountain. most don't know what it is. Sacred Mountain was the first place I recognized about 15 years ago, and kind of kicked the whole thing off. It's a cool place. I stopped a few years ago talked to the homeowner who told me some easy rider stories, including that waputki was the place where they slept in the ruins and did the Byrds song sequences.
