Default My Trips, Past and Future

Reading about scarygt's planned 5,400 mile trip prompted me to use todays technology to revisit my trips using Google Maps. (FYI: Google Maps only allows you to have stops A-Y, I could not add a Z)

The Blue line represent the trip I did in 1999 Solo on a Honda ST1100. It took 33 days and I put on 8,800 miles and rode through 20 states. I started in NY and ended there. Funny thing about this trip was that I was supposed to end up in AZ or Ca and live there.

The Green Line is a trip we did to Florida and Back. 7 states, 2,900 miles, 10 days. We followed Route 1 (The Coastal Highway) all the way down. That took us 4 days to get down there.

The Red & Purple lines are trips I have planned (in my head) to Alaska (red) and Nova Scotia (purple)

I also added the Green Line Florida Trip as a Google Map. As I did it solo the following year. What was special about that trip was that I did the return; Daytona Beach to NY all 1068 miles, 16 hours, NON STOP! (well I stopped to refuel and purge fluids)

We also did a NY to Boston trip. 3 States, 368 miles and should have been 7 hours We did it as an Impulsive Lunch Trip. I literally woke up and said lets have lunch at Columbus Park in Boston, MA today, Columbus Day! We jumped on the bike and took off. It was dense fog the entire way there. We made it there for Dinner, not lunch. Had dinner and came back home. It took 10 hours round trip, and it was COLD

All in all, it sounds like a lot, but so far I have ONLY hit 28 states and 2 countries (US & Canada) on the bike.

The 1999 trip sounds like a real adventure. Any more about that one?

I haven't totaled all of the routes up yet, but my trip is going to be now closer to 6500 or 7K miles. I'll hit around 15 - 16 states. I'm not sure, but I think I'm going to end up spending 3.5 weeks on this one.

And I agree with Hackd.. I'd love to read about your 33 day trip... pictures would be a plus!

PS: do you want to tag along on my ride with me.. I'm heading out on May 1st!

I have most of the pics and captions posted on Facebook. If you have an account there click here: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/al...&id=1039456935

I wish I could take a trip out like that again. I had to save up for quite a while to support that much time off of work. I actually had to quit my job at that time. Now I work for myself, so its just about impossible to take more than a week off.

If you are riding through the Northeast, I'll be happy to tag along for a bit.
