Road trip
The wife and I are planing a trip from Grand Rapids MI To Phenex Al at the end of the month to see my daughter, and were looking for some input on what roads to take and not to take, places to stop for a cold one and grub ect?

How long ya got?
Phenix City, AL is about 14 hours of good hard riding by the interstates. Probably more if you're riding two up. I've made the trip from SE Michigan to exit 218 on I-75 'a few times', and it takes me 12 hours of hard riding.

Can't really help ya with yer route outta MI...but, I can give ya a nice route to avoid the superslab once ya get into the TN area. Find Maryville, TN on a map. You'll see US-411 headin south outta there. Take US-411 S. to Cartersville, GA. At Cartersville, follow GA-61 S. to Carrollton, GA where GA-61 ends and ya pick up GA-166 into Carrollton. From there, take US-27 S. to LaGrange, GA. At LaGrange, pick up GA-219 S. to the Columbus, GA area. Just outside of Columbus, you'll see an on-ramp for US-80 W. which will take ya 'cross the river to Phoenix City.
The above route is how we go to Panama City Beach...a nice non-interstate ride that actually makes pretty decent time.
