NC ride
Highlands is a great place with lots of terrific riding in the area! The town itself is very scenic, with lots of restaurants and shops. You'll probably get there via US 64 which is scenic along Ocoee Lake and River. US 64 east of Highlands was fairly congested east of Highlands six months ago with lots of construction. NC 106 heading west from Highlands to Dillard is a great road with lots of curves and a good surface - a worthwhile detour heading home. Lunch or dinner at the Dillard House Restaurant is some great southern cooking if you care to head that way. If you're in the area for the weekend, diverting from Ocoee Lake up NC 30 through Reliance and on to Tellico Plains is a gem of a road with lots of curves and great scenery.
Agree with Notgrownup, the last few times I've ridden around Highlands I noticed the area was pretty congested. If you like golf, Lexus's, and wear Berkinstocks you'll feel right at home.
