decent NYC interstate drive by tour?

No matter what way you come into new york there is going to be traffic. 24 hours a day. 287 at the end of jersey TPK to 684. 684 to I 84 into Connecticut. Stay on I 84 to the Mass Pike I 90. I 90 or 290 to 495. 495 to all points north. you can take the saw mill or the Henry hutch , or westside out of the city. There will be traffic all the way to Maine. Ride safe.

honestly all i was originally looking for was an interstate / freeway route that would let us get a good look at the statue of liberty and maybe a little part of the skyline, but i'm looking at the routes mentioned in this thread to try and make a final decision. it kinda' depends on how far along we get on friday the 28th.....don't know for sure yet what time i'll be able to roll out from work, so that's a crappy variable.....could be there all the way up to 5 pm.
