From what I have seen, there are very few "bad *** bikers" left in this world. In fact, I bet there never were a ton of em like it seems.

Never worry about what anyone else thinks as long as you aren't hurting anyone.

For some its the ride, for others its the destination. As long as everyone does what they want, there should be no issues. Why would anyone care that someone trailers to a rally, then rides around like Billy Bad ***? Is it a jealousy thing? Are you upset that they didn't have the great experience that you did, and you want them to see it your way? What about the guys that ride all the way to Sturgis then walk around the whole time and never ride at all while they are there? Or the ones that trailor to a hotel/house, ride to town, then walk around. If you worry about this stuff, you are just putting a downer on what is supposed to be your own fun time.

Enjoy your trip. Do whatever makes you happy. Come back to work refreshed, because you got 36 more years of workin. No time for wasted vacations.
Take it from someone who always needs a rest after his vacation.

As a side note on been there done that roads. There is always another way to get from point a to point b. Sometimes the fun can be in locating that path.

well this has certainly been interesting to follow if nothin else. I think i let this thread go in a direction other than intended. I guess what I was really looking for was info from people who trailer there bikes to cities where they are not staying. My plan now is to leave the truck in Amarillo, the problem, I aint coming back to Amarillo everynight so I dont have a hotel room or such. Infact aint coming back till midday Tues, 4Jul after dropping it off it off on Fri. Me and my girl are going camp through hte rockies.

I am going to look up storage lots or parking lots or the local airport and see what the daily rate is. If anyone is in the Amarillo area, I would welcome any info. I emailed the HOG chapter there and havent heard back yet.

Check with hotels near the airport. Around here, it's common to let them use their lot of you stay there before and after your flight. If you reserve a room at the beginning and end of your trip, they might just let you park there for free.

If not, try parking it at the airport long term parking or one of those storage rental places. They have those places to park boats, trailers, cars all over the place.

Do exactly what you feel is best, and once you've decided what that is, enjoy the hell outa your decission and don't waste another second worrying about your choice! Nothing wrong with saving a bit of your oh so short time off by trailering the bike. And I wouldn't spend much time worrying about what other's may think one way or the other? You know who you are and don't have to prove yourself to anyone but you in the end. Right? So go with what you feel will make the most sense and also make you happy in the longrun.

Thanks, Matt. i am gonna trailer it but decided on only to Amarillo, TX. I dont like the idea of trailering it at all but that is 350 miles of nothing that I have done too many times. I found a fenced in RV storage lot w/ 24/7 access to leave it for 5 days for $10. Can't beat that with a stick for the secured parking and peace of mind. I decided not to go all the way with the truck to Albuquerque for multiple reasons, dont want to miss the new road on the scooter, got recommendations to go through Taos and Angel Fire on my way to Durango and I dont plan on coming bak to Albuquerque. I think I am gonna cut into KS on the last day and stay in/near Dodge City.

I cant thank y'all enough for the offers and suggestions. If anyone is gonna be in the following areas:

Taos/Angel Fire/Eagle Nest, NM are on 30 Jun
Durango, CO on 1July,

PM me if y'all want to tip a cold one. After that, I dont know where I am gonna end up except I have to be back in Amarillo by midday 4Jul to get back to Ft Worth by evening. Gotta get the dog outta storage before they close.

Andy,

Would like to meet up with you, but on those dates we will be at the National HOG rally in Billings, Mt. I'll take a rain check for some time in the future..
