Super ride, Jim! Next time you get out this way, give Ol' Whiskers a call. I've ridden many of those throughout Colorado but never get tired of them.
BTW, how was your steak at the Trough in Gunnison? I had one there in June and it was one of the best. Also, did your heart slow down a bit after eating that breakfast in Idaho Springs? Mine did, just looking at it. Did you order a burger at the Montrose HD dealer? One of the best I've had there too.
You saw much of the best in my home state, so I know you'll be back again.
Maybe we'll hook up next time.
looks like a great ride. You should post your route using HDs ride planner so we can all see where you went. I'd like to check out some of those roads, especially those close to home.

W, I will definitely be back out that way in the future. Will plan to give you a shout! I didn't find a "bad" road to ride on in southern Colorado. Looking at plans for Alaska and the Arctic Circle for 2010, so maybe 2011 for a return trip.
The Trough in Gunnison was outstanding. Great atmosphere, friendly people and food. The best steak I had though was at The Swingin' Grill -Mexican Hat Lodge in Mexican Hat, UT. The best breakfast (and the one that probably slowed my heart down the most!) was at Ted's Tacos in Mancos. CO. Have you eaten there?
Didn't get a chance to eat at Montrose HD. Got there late in the afternoon and got a quick (20 minute!!) oil change. Great shop and very nice service department. They never hesitated to accomodate me on a quick oil change since I was traveling. Bought a shirt from them too, since they were so nice!
Really liked the Million Dollar Highway and the road down into the Black Canyon of the Gunninson to the dam (a 16% grade!!). All the passes, Mt Evans, etc. etc. etc.!!!!!
