Ridgetop Motel in Bryson City... half hour away from the dragon, and has plenty of eating choices nearby for dinner. That and you can buy adult beverages at the gas station, around the corner, for the evening "wind-down"
but... both the IRONHORSE, and the KICKSTAND motorcycle lodges are great places, with good folks running them all three are "motorcycle friendly"
If you go to either Iron Horse, or kickstand.... buy twice as much beer as you think you'll drink, because there's no beer there, and the sound of someting opening, will attract everyone
Robbinsville area is a dry county .. While I don't drink while riding when I wind down in the evening is another story ... Why I like the Holiday Motel in Maggie Valley.. Also gives the woman a place to go and shop around as sometimes she doen't want to ride as long as I do...
We stayed at the Deals gap resort, good price and comfort, the ladies that clean the rooms will do your laundry while your out riding. We picked up some beer and whiskey and sat around in the evenings having a few. And met alot of other great people who were down riding the area. Its quiet and not much there but the resort so we would eat dinner and get back about sunset each night but we were also right there in the morning to ride the dragon, or hellbender(28) or shoot over to the cherohla skyway
We stayed in Gatlinburg when we were there in July. Hung out there when we werrent riding. But there are alot of places closer to choose from if your going just to do the Dragon. Werre going back up in October to Pigeon Forge. Depends on the weather if we ride or cage for this trip.
